Happy Friday everyone! To kick off the weekend I've pulled together a list of my favorite blogging books to share with you.Whether you're a seasoned pro or just getting started, here are my top 7 books that all bloggers must read.

1. 100 Things Every Designer Needs to Know About People (Voices That Matter)
So the first book on my list isn't actually about blogging at all, but if you do any of your own design work then it's a must read. It's all about the psychology behind design and how you can use it to your advantage.

2. The Golden Rules Of Blogging
Each page of this book covers a "rule" of blogging and analyzes how well it works and when you should make exceptions. It also has contributions from professional bloggers sharing their own advice on when to break the rules.

3. Blog, Inc.: Blogging for Passion, Profit, and to Create Community
This book written by professional blogger Joy Cho, of Oh Joy!, is a staple in every bloggers library and for good reason. Joy has been blogging since 2005 and has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the industry. Her book is no different and covers everything from just getting your blog off the ground to taking it full time.

4. Capture Your Style: Transform Your Instagram Photos, Showcase Your Life, and Build the Ultimate Platform
Written by another well known blogger, Aimee Song, this one is less about blogging and all about Instagram. Other than a lot of great tips to improve your Instagram feed it's also filled with examples from Aimee's Instagram account (which has 4.7 million followers!).

5. Everybody Writes: Your Go-To Guide to Creating Ridiculously Good Content
It focuses on the idea that writing is a skill, not a gift, and that everyone can be a better writer with the right tools and practice. In the increasingly visual world of blogging content is still king and it's important that we all continue to improve our writing.

6. Picture Perfect Social Media: A Handbook for Styling Perfect Photos for Posting, Blogging, and Sharing
Unlike Capture Your Style, this book is less about aesthetic tips and more about photography techniques to improve your Instagram feed. It's got a great intro to your DSLR camera's manual settings and basic photography principles.
7. Pinfluence: The Complete Guide to Marketing Your Business with Pinterest
No matter what kind of blog you write Pinterest is crucial to your social media strategy. This book is a little outdated (published in 2012), but much of it is still relevant today.

About Me

Hi, my name is Dana and welcome to my blog - Beauty & the Blog. I'm a 22 year old college graduate who decided to go back to school to change careers. I have a degree in environmental science, but after working in labs for 2 years I decided that in order to meet my long term goals I needed to do something different.

Even though wildlife and conservation are my passion there just aren't enough job opportunities available. To make myself more marketable I decided to switch gears and pursue a master's degree in digital strategy and media management. In preparation for grad school I'm taking a few courses at Valencia Community College, including one on social media.

That brings us to this blog - a place for me to reflect on what I've learned about the world of blogging and share some of those tips with you.
